The semester break is short and its dates are fixed; that is why countries you can visit without dealing with visa applications, appointments and waiting times are the first choice of families. In this guide we have ranked, by weather and flight duration, the countries Turkish citizens can easily visit during the 2027 semester break (late January – early February) either visa-free or with a visa on arrival.
Note: Visa rules may change. Before traveling, check the current status on the official website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mfa.gov.tr).
Belgrade and Sarajevo, with their snowy streets, warm cafés and affordable prices, are the most practical visa-free semester break routes. The flight from Istanbul takes about 1.5 hours. Ski resorts around Sarajevo are a separate option for those who want to combine the winter holiday with activities.
